Iowa Downtown Resource Center
The Iowa Downtown Resource Center (IDRC) assists communities around the state in revitalizing their downtowns or commercial districts. Main Street Iowa is the signature program of the Downtown Resource Center. Our qualified staff can provide technical assistance to communities through training opportunities, providing referrals, raising awareness of the importance of downtowns.
The IDRC offers fee-based, technical assistance services including design assistance, business improvement planning, organizational and board building and promotion. An information exchange is also offered through the Iowa Downtown Resource Center, giving communities access to examples of revitalization projects and activities, sample contracts, qualified consultants in everything from landscape architecture to structural engineering, and much more.
Attend one of the Downtown Forums and let your voice be heard!

Downtown Economic Development Pilot Program
The Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa Downtown Resource Center and Drake University are officially kicking off a formal RFP process to find 1-2 good matches for the Downtown Economic Development Pilot Program.
This program was designed to offer assistance and solutions addressing problems downtown in a number of potential areas.
Drake students from 4-6 departments will converge on communities (up to two) to research, provide plans/recommendations and depending on local issues, present actual products (i.e. branding materials or public art, etc). The goal is to provide real world learning opportunities to Drake students and to improve the economic viability of the downtowns/urban neighborhood districts in the selected communities.
