Dear Industry Professional:

There is nowhere in the world that can compare to the State of Iowa. With its picturesque, natural beauty, Iowa is home to some of the most unique backdrops the world has to offer. And Iowa's workforce boasts some of the industry's most experienced behind-the-scenes crew members. As a television or motion picture producer with the greatest of expectations, in Iowa, you can find it all.

Iowa has been the successful setting for such major movies as "Field of Dreams," "Twister," "The Straight Story," "The Bridges of Madison County," "The Hideout" and "The Final Season." Television episodes of NBC's "Three Wishes"; Discovery Channel's "Monster Nation"; ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" and "Dvorak's New World" for ZDF of Germany have also been filmed here in Iowa. Along with many independent productions, music videos and television commercial work, Iowa is a preferred destination. This land between two rivers is blessed with people of strong character and a backdrop rich in landscape, history and talent.

Before our time, the Sioux Indian tribe who inhabited the region fittingly named their homeland "Iowa," or "the beautiful land." Numerous film production companies have been surprised and delighted by the state's diverse scenery and its miles of endless sky. Iowa's steep limestone bluffs along the Mississippi River, meandering rivers, rolling plains, pristine prairies, our own "great lakes" and the dramatic Loess Hills nestled on the banks of the Missouri River are only a few examples of its beauty. As a former history teacher, I personally cherish the numerous historical expedition trails, including the Mormon, California, and Lewis and Clark trails. From colorful fields to picturesque main streets to vibrant urban centers, Iowa offers you unlimited opportunities.
