The
Vision Iowa Program was created to assist projects that will provide recreational, cultural, entertainment and educational attractions.
The Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Program is a component of Vision Iowa and supports projects in communities, large and small, that promote recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment attractions that are available to the general public.
The River Enhancement Community Attraction and Tourism (RECAT) Program is a component of Vision Iowa and supports projects in cities, that enhance, connect and relate to a river, lake or river corridor.
In FY 2010 investments and projects include:
- 15 CAT Projects
- $4,454,000.00 – CAT Investment
- $30,364,853.00 – Total Investment in CAT Projects
- 3 RECAT Projects
- $3,365,000.00 – RECAT Investment
- $18,125,089.00 – Total Investment in RECAT Projects
The CAT Marketing Fund provided financial assistance to Vision Iowa recipients for marketing of the facilities constructed in partnership with Vision Iowa. In FY 2010:

The Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Program supports projects that promote recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment attractions that are available to the general public. The River Enhancement Community Attraction and Tourism (RECAT) Program supports projects that promote and enhance recreational opportunities on and near rivers or lakes within cities.
