International Training and Consulting

Strengthening Iowa’s presence in the global marketplace

The Iowa Economic Development Authority's (IEDA) International Trade Office (ITO) assists Iowa companies in developing or expanding into international markets and marketing products and services.

Customized Virtual Matchmaking Service

The ITO now offers a virtual consultation program to develop new markets, or expand existing, for Iowa products and services. This online, no travel opportunity provides manufacturing and service exporters with market research, customized briefings, and virtual one-on-one meetings with pre-qualified prospects specific to the targeted business industry. Meetings will be coordinated and secured based on organizational goals and desired outcomes. Whether conducting market assessment options, seeking direct export sales, locating distributors/agents or identifying strategic relationships, this will be an opportunity to build business in a new, and dynamic way. The program includes:

  • Initial Consultation and Export Readiness Review
  • Market Research/Assessment
  • Pre-Matchmaking Business Briefing/Planning
  • Customized Online Business Appointments/Matchmaking
  • Post-Matchmaking Review/Next Steps

Complete the Virtual Matchmaking request form (no cost), and the ITO will contact you to schedule an initial consultation.

Individual Consultation

Individual consultation is offered via one-on-one export counseling. This provides Iowa businesses with invaluable resources to identify issues such as product suitability, best markets, appropriate trade shows, qualified contacts, distribution channels, trade barriers, export requirements, logistics, documentation assistance and more. IEDA’s global offices and representatives help Iowa companies identify prospective business partners, perform essential introductions and arrange business appointments with potential customers, agents and distributors. Representatives also conduct product-specific research, pre- and post-show promotion and follow-up assistance.

Technical Assistance, Training and Seminars

Educational seminars and customized training sessions are held throughout the year for Iowa companies. These opportunities cover topics from exporting to international financing and are a tremendous tool for local developers, chambers of commerce and other business organizations seeking help to succeed domestically and abroad.
