Promoting Iowa goods and services internationally
The Iowa Economic Development Authority's (IEDA) International Trade Office (ITO) organizes trade missions, trade shows and in-bound international buyers groups. Iowa businesses can also access international market research through IEDA’s global offices and representatives.
Trade Missions and Trade Shows
Trade missions offer a cost-effective means to meet potential international customers and representatives. In cooperation with representatives in each targeted country, the ITO arranges business appointments for each mission member with a detailed planning and screening process. Iowa companies receive assistance with direct sales, distributor agreements, licensing arrangements and joint ventures.
Trade shows can be used to effectively introduce products into a new market or expand visibility in an existing market. These shows provide an opportunity to meet potential buyers, test market interest and evaluate the competition. The ITO consults with Iowa companies to help select appropriate international trade fairs, and assist with show planning and follow-up. At designated shows, companies may share a state of Iowa booth or participate in an Iowa pavilion.

Be an Iowa Exporter
Enhance marketing at trade shows by proudly displaying the Iowa Exporter graphic. International buyers recognize Iowa as a provider of world-class, quality products. IEDA grants permission for the usage of the Iowa Exporter graphic to companies for prominent display in trade show booths or printed materials for the purposes of promoting the company as an Iowa Exporter. The graphic is provided to Iowa companies for use at domestic and international trade shows.
International Buyers Groups
The ITO works closely with foreign government offices and domestic trade associations to coordinate visits to Iowa for qualified, in-bound international buying delegations and commercial visitors.
Global Marketing Research
Programs have been developed in conjunction with Iowa’s global representatives to provide services to Iowa companies seeking to establish or expand a presence internationally. Services vary by location but may include general market information, market research, pre-screening of potential customers and partners, appointment scheduling, and trade show support. Some services are complimentary, while others are fee-based. Locations include China, Mexico, Europe and Southeast Asia, but these services can also be arranged in other select markets.
