Community Catalyst Building Remediation

Helping grow stronger communities and vibrant downtown areas

The Community Catalyst Building Remediation Program assists communities with the redevelopment, rehabilitation or deconstruction of buildings to stimulate economic growth or reinvestment in the community.  

  • Funding based on annual availability
  • Maximum grant: $100,000
  • 40% of funds will be awarded to cities with populations under 1,500

Eligibility:

  • Funds available for the rehabilitation of one commercial building per community or two buildings with same ownership that are adjacent
  • Deconstruction is allowed in dire situations or for safety reasons
  • City must be the applicant and provide financial and/or in-kind resources

Application Workshops:

A thorough description of the Community Catalyst Building Remediation Program will be presented at five regional application workshops. Sessions will include deadlines for pre-applications and the actual formal application process. The workshops are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

October 1, 2018
Ottumwa 2-4:00 p.m. Hotel Ottumwa — 107 East Second St.

October 2, 2018
Atlantic 10-12:00 p.m. Cass County Community Center — 805 West 10th St.
Storm Lake 4-6:00 p.m. City Hall Council Chambers (2nd Floor) — 620 Erie St.

October 3, 2018
Clear Lake 1-3:00 p.m. Surf Ballroom — 460 N Shore Drive

October 4, 2018
Anamosa 10-12:00 p.m. Lawrence Community Center — 600 E Main St.
