Clean Cities Program

Coordinating the reduction of petroleum use

The Clean Cities program coordinated at Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) is a designated member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program.  Public and private stakeholders work together to provide education and technical assistance with a special interest in fleets.

Iowa Clean Cities Coalition members demonstrate commitment towards petroleum reduction activities in the state.  Efforts include using and promoting alternative fuels and vehicles, infrastructure development to support alternative fuel use, idle reduction, and other strategies to reduce petroleum use. The members also commit to supporting educational efforts on these causes.

Members reflect a variety of stakeholders, including local governments, metropolitan planning organizations, private fleets, non-profits, associations, industry representatives, colleges and universities and businesses with a commitment to sustainable practices.
