The 1,000+ occupations eligible for an Iowa apprenticeship training grant

There’s a way to train skilled employees at a reduced expense to your bottom line – a registered apprenticeship program. The state of Iowa offers grants to companies who conduct and maintain approved apprenticeship programs.

There are more than 1,000 occupations eligible for state training grants, and they’re not just in manufacturing or construction. For example, an approved program could train accounting specialists or certified nursing aides.

The state of Iowa uses a U.S. Department of Labor list to determine which occupations are eligible for apprenticeship training grants. Here is a link to the full list: U.S. Department of Labor – Apprenticeship Occupations.

The process for receiving apprenticeship training grants

Only programs that meet specific U.S. Department of Labor requirements are available for state apprenticeship training grants. Apprenticeship programs must be registered with the U.S. Department of Labor. To start the registration process, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s apprenticeship toolkit.
