A new report says Iowa is home to 10 percent of the country’s agbioscience jobs, and from 2012 to 2014 agbioscience employment in Iowa grew five percent, one of the fastest rates of growth of any state.

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), the world’s largest trade association representing biotechnology companies, together with TEConomy Partners, a leading research firm, published the report, titled “The Value of Bioscience Innovation in Growing Jobs and Improving Quality of Life.

The report ranks five Iowa metro areas as having among the highest concentration of agbioscience jobs in the country: Ames; Cedar Rapids; Des Moines-West Des Moines; Omaha, Neb.-Council Bluffs; and Sioux City.

Iowa is the only state to offer a renewable chemical tax credit program, is one of a few states to offer a refundable R&D tax credit.
