IEDA helps manufacturer expand in Ankeny

Based in Ankeny, Iowa, Accumold manufactures custom micro plastics for medical devices and cell phones.

A homegrown Iowa manufacturer, with assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), just completed an expansion that could lead to 200 more jobs in Ankeny.

Accumold’s recent 50,000-square-foot expansion was aided by funding from the IEDA High Quality Jobs Program. This program provides financial assistance to companies who locate a facility in Iowa, or expand or modernize an existing facility. In exchange, the companies must meet a defined wage.

The advanced manufacturer makes tiny, high-tech parts used in “medical devices, microelectronics and micro-optics.” Then Accumold sells a majority of its products abroad, mostly to Asia and Europe, the Des Moines Register reports.

In addition to providing assistance to quality job creators, IEDA helps Iowa companies that want to export globally - like Accumold. IEDA offers international trade assistance to eligible small Iowa businesses, conducts international trade missions every year and is represented globally via four international offices and representatives.
