Survey: Iowa businesses plan to grow

March 25, 2016

Employers in Iowa – more so than almost anywhere else in the country – expect to add workers in Q2 2016, according to a new survey from the ManpowerGroup.

Employers across the country were asked if they plan to hire more staff in the next quarter, and a big chunk of Iowa employers said, “Yes.”

In fact, a higher percentage of Iowa employers said they plan to add workers than employers in 46 other states. Companies add staff when they feel positive about their businesses, and there are clear reasons why CEOs in Iowa feel positive.

Iowa has one of the lowest costs of doing business in the country, and Iowa is consistently rated as one of the best states in the country for doing business. In Iowa, construction costs, energy prices and industrial lease rates are all far below the national average. Iowans also enjoy a high quality of life – our housing costs are low, our commutes are short and we live in one of the best places in the country to raise kids. Iowa is a place where a lot of things, including businesses, grow.
