It's good to be an Iowan

Maybe it’s the recent 70-degree temperatures across the state or maybe it’s anticipation for the NCAA tournament games in Des Moines. Whatever it is, it just feels like a good time to be an Iowan. Well, really, it’s almost always a good time to be an Iowan – just look at the latest rankings.

Within the last two months Iowa City was named one of the most livable cities in America, U.S. News and World Report said Des Moines is the 11th best place to live in the country, Des Moines was named one of the best cities to find a good job and both Cedar Rapids and Des Moines were named two of the best cities for young people to get rich.

Iowa has safe cities, short commutes, low housing costs, low unemployment and good public schools. We have a booming craft beer scene, beautiful state parks, one of the best arts festivals in the world, great hunting and fishing, two top 10 college towns – and three schools in this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
