Iowa’s benefits will leave you in awe

December 28, 2015

We enjoy an incredible work/life balance here in Iowa. A large part of that lifestyle is supported by the plush benefits we offer our residents. Like our affordability. And our quality education. The rich cultural opportunities. And our…well, let’s just dive in, shall we?

Here’s what Sherri Hotzler, president and CEO of Vantec, Inc., had to say about the subject. Said Hotzler, “Iowa is a much more affordable location to run a business – our electricity rates, housing, food, everything is more reasonable.”

She’s right. In fact, Iowa’s housing costs are 8th lowest in the nation, while our utilities are 7 percent lower and our food costs are 7 percent lower, just to name a few. Education is also one of our top priorities in Iowa. Here you'll find high school graduation rates that are #1 in the nation and a K-12 public education system that’s nationally recognized with students who continually outperform their peers on standardized tests. Pair that with the fact that nearly 32 percent of Iowa adults 25 to 44 years old hold a bachelor’s degree, and Iowa is a hotbed of educated workers. It’s like Hotzler said, “Without good people who are reliable and hardworking, it’s impossible to run a successful business.”

Fortunately for businesses, they won’t only find educated workers here in Iowa. They’ll find educated, happy workers. Happy because of our short commute. Happy because Iowa is one of the best states in the nation to raise a family. Happy because the cost of living is below the national average. Overall, just happy to call Iowa home.
