Visit Nation Leading PowerFilm Solar At Iowa Capitol

March 7, 2011 (Des Moines)PowerFilm Solar will showcase Iowa-made solar products at the State Capitol grounds Tuesday, March 8 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The public is invited to experience demonstrations of products from this nation leading solar manufacturer and learn more about solar applications that work in Iowa and around the world.  Solar technology will be showcased in both an outdoor solar powered tent and inside the State Capitol Building.

PowerFilm, an Ames, Iowa based company, is a developer and manufacturer of thin, flexible solar modules.  Because of PowerFilm’s proprietary production processes, they are able to make low-cost solar modules that power everything from military needs and temporary emergency shelters, to everyday items including golf carts, laptop computers and cell phones.

PowerFilm was founded in 1988 in Ames by Dr. Frank Jeffery and Dr. Derrick Grimmer.  Since then it has grown as a leader in the solar industry due to its roll-to-roll manufacturing process. The company was the first, and remains the only, company in the world that manufactures and sells monolithically-integrated solar panels on plastic using a true roll-to-roll process.  PowerFilm Solar also has developed low-cost technology to integrate the solar panels with products and building materials.
