Iowa Black Business Summit October 16-17 in Des Moines


Des Moines, IA (September 20, 2011) – Registration is now open for the Iowa Black Business Summit, to be held October 16-17 at the Embassy Suites on the River in Des Moines.  The Iowa Black Business Summit is the largest event in Iowa to bring black business owners and those with entrepreneurial aspirations together to learn, network, and collaborate for business growth. The 2011 Summit will offer general plenary sessions, workshops, an awards luncheon and a networking session for attendees.


The theme for this year’s summit is “Innovate. Collaborate. Grow.” The event begins with a networking reception Sunday, October 16 at 6 p.m. where attendees will learn the “Art & The Science of Networking” while applying techniques that evening.  The opening address on Monday will be given by Pat Brown-Dixon of the Small Business Administration (SBA).  Brown-Dixon is the Regional Administrator for SBA’s Region VII, overseeing SBA operations throughout its district offices in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska.  The awards luncheon keynote speaker will be Dr. Floyd Rose, President of the Wisconsin Minority Supplier Development Council (WMSDC). The WMSDC has worked for over 27 years in the private sector developing and managing programs that address business expansion.
