Open House to be Held Today for New Alternative Energy Fueled Vehicle

New Noble CNG car to be available for purchase later this year

Des Moines, IA (October 27, 2011) - An open house featuring the new Noble CNG car will be held today at Des Moines Motors from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The American-made Noble CNG car which will be available for purchase later this year at Des Moines Motors is 100 percent fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG) -- a safe, economical and clean transportation fuel.   The vehicle runs 50 MPG on CNG and can be upgraded to accept dual fuel.  In terms of cost, the nationwide average for gasoline in July 2011 was $3.68 versus $2.07 for CNG.  Currently, there are over 13 million CNG vehicles worldwide and only 112,000 on the road in the U.S.

Also on display today is the BRC Fuelmaker “Small Q” refueling equipment being offered exclusively by NatGas Services LC.   This equipment allows individuals to fuel a business fleet with CNG or refuel a personal CNG vehicle at home with a simple connection to the natural gas supply.

“The time has come for compressed natural gas in Iowa. NatGas Services is prepared to put our money where our mouth is and open the first public CNG fueling station in Iowa,” said Jim Huyser, owner, NatGas Services, LC.  The fueling station will allow natural gas vehicles to be refueled in a manner similar to a gas station and will be installed in Polk County by December 31.

The Iowa Clean Cities Coalition is collaborating with the Gabus Automotive Group and NatGas Services LC to host today’s open house in a continuing effort to build strong, self-sustaining partnerships with industry, stakeholders, fleets, fuel suppliers and business partners with the goal of decreasing dependence on petroleum.

Gabus Automotive Group was founded by Charles Gabus with the purchase of a Ford dealership in Holdrege, Nebraska in September of 1953. Today, Gabus Automotive Group includes Gabus Ford, Des Moines Motors, Des Moines Imports and Toyota of Des Moines.

NatGas Services, LC is based in Iowa and was established to bring compressed natural gas to the automotive industry in the Midwest. NatGas Services will provide a "one-stop shop" for all products and services required to convert fleets or personal vehicles to run on compressed natural gas. This includes vehicle conversions, several models of time-fill and fast-fill refueling equipment and service for private, public or home use.

This open house is free and open to the public and media.
