GOVERNOR BRANSTAD TO PRESENT IOWA NONPROFIT SUMMIT AWARDS

Seven Award Recipients to be Recognized

 

October 31, 2012 – (Des Moines) – Governor Terry E. Branstad will present the 2012 Iowa Nonprofit Awards recognizing excellence in the nonprofit sector on November 8 to seven individuals and nonprofit organizations in recognition of their outstanding work in Iowa’s nonprofit community.

 

Award winners include:

·         The Iowa Pride Network/Safe School Certification Program will receive the Nonprofit Collaboration Award for their efforts to support the implementation of the Iowa Safe Schools Law to support schools in creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.

·         Jessica Prazak of Mason City will receive the Outstanding Volunteer or Service Manager Award for her work with the Mason City Youth Task Force in expanding the One on One Mentoring Program.

·         Sheltered Reality, Inc. of West Liberty will receive the Outstanding Volunteer or Service Program Award for their work in engaging and empowering youth through music to make positive change in themselves and their communities.

·         The Mid-Iowa Health Foundation of Des Moines will receive the Philanthropic Impact Award for their work as a leader, convener and funder for community partnerships around key health issues.

·         The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library of Cedar Rapids will receive the Nonprofit Spotlight Award for the economic and educational impact made by the Museum’s leadership since the Flood of 2008 in Cedar Rapids.

·         Two Nonprofit Board/Staff Leadership Awards will be presented this year, one to Jodie Warth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa (Des Moines) and one to Carol Gilbert of the Hardin County Community Endowment Foundation (Iowa Falls). Both are recognized for the impact of their leadership in their respective organizations.

 

The fifth annual Iowa Nonprofit Summit on November 7-8 in Des Moines will bring together more than 400 leaders of nonprofit and volunteer management organizations from across the state to provide learning and networking for Iowa’s nonprofit community.  For more information, visit www.regonline.com/npsummit2012.
