Iowa Economic Development Authority Board approves projects resulting in $389 million in capital investment

April 20, 2012 (DES MOINES, IA) - The Iowa Economic Development Authority board today awarded financial assistance to 11 companies for job creation and expansion projects. Today's awards will assist in the creation of 403 new jobs, retention of 44 jobs and will result in $389 million of new capital investment to the state.

"It’s a great day for Iowa – it’s rewarding to see so many businesses choosing Iowa for their location, including a world-renowned company like Google.  Although we are pleased to be a finalist, I am confident that in the end, Iowa will stand above the competition,” said Governor Terry Branstad.  “As we continue to work to improve the state’s business climate and remove barriers to growth for companies, it’s exciting to see that paying off.  From border to border, today’s announcements mean jobs all across the state.

The board approved assistance for planned or proposed projects located in Iowa City, Farley, Johnston, Bettendorf, Council Bluffs, Dubuque, Elkader, Ankeny, Iowa Falls, Clive and Amana.
