Iowa Economic Development Authority to Showcase Iowa and its Startups at SXSW

February 24, 2015 (Des Moines, IA) –The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), along with national and statewide partners, will promote Iowa and its startups at SXSW, to be held in March in Austin, Texas. IEDA will promote the state and its startups through promotional marketing efforts during the Interactive portion of the conference held March 13-17 and at a networking event on Sunday, March 15 from 6-8:30 p.m.

The effort will feature Iowa startups as co-hosts, encouraging startups to build their SXSW presence. Iowa startups heading to SXSW can leverage this networking event to make potentially pivotal contacts, to promote their business and gain stronger client and industry support. Visit IowaHour.co to register to attend or host the event.

Iowa has partnered with corporate sponsor Workiva, an Iowa startup that has recently joined the ranks of Iowa’s public companies, community sponsors; The Greater Des Moines Partnership, Quad Cities First, The City of West Des Moines and Iowa’s Creative Corridor. Other SXSW partners involved in this effort include Welch Avenue and Up Global, the national parent organization for StartupIowa.

SXSW is a festival/trade show held annually in Austin. The show is divided into three categories including Interactive, Film and Music. Iowa’s efforts will specifically target the Interactive portion—an incubator of cutting-edge technologies and digital creativity. The event features five days of compelling presentations and digital creativity from the brightest minds in emerging technology.
