Iowa Tourism Office offers Bridges to Romance package to celebrate national tour launch of The Bridges of Madison County musical

October 15, 2015 (Des Moines, Iowa) — To celebrate the national tour launch of The Bridges of Madison County, the Iowa Tourism Office is offering a prize package featuring two tickets to the opening night performance of the two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

The Bridges to Romance package also includes a one-night stay at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown and dinner for two at RoCA in downtown Des Moines. People can enter to win at through October 21. The musical starts November 28 at the Des Moines Civic Center and runs through December 5.

“Travelers have been fans of the famed bridges for decades,” said Shawna Lode, manager of the Iowa Tourism Office. “The Broadway musical provides an opportunity to experience the romance of the bridges in a different way.”

“There’s really no better location to launch the national tour of Bridges of Madison County than right here in Des Moines,” said Greg Edwards, president and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Securing the national tour launch is just another example of the dedication Des Moines Performing Arts has to making our city an arts and culture destination.”

“We think audiences will totally fall in love with this Broadway production,” said Barb Preuss, director of marketing for Des Moines Performing Arts. “It’s an entirely new way to experience this story, with an absolutely stunning musical score by composer Jason Robert Brown, who won the 2014 Tony Award® for Best Original Score for Bridges.” Preuss added that, after the Des Moines engagement, the tour moves on to 16 cities, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.

The Bridges to Romance promotion is a partnership with Des Moines Performing Arts and the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Bridges of Madison County is the third Broadway musical to launch its national tour in Des Moines. State Fair (1995) and the revival of The Music Man (2001) both also started their national tours in Des Moines.
