Choose the cover of the next Iowa Travel Guide

October 28, 2015 (Des Moines, Iowa) — From stunning river views to beautiful bridges and hiking and biking trails, what best represents Iowa? When you vote in this year’s Iowa Travel Guide cover contest you help shape the way travelers view our state. Go to facebook.com/IowaTourism and vote now.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Tourism Office is coordinating the voting, which begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, and ends at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4. Users are encouraged to vote for their favorite of four cover options: a scenic overlook of Effigy Mounds National Monument near Harpers Ferry, Roseman Covered Bridge in Madison County, Wabash Trace Nature Trail in southwestern Iowa and hikers in the Loess Hills. The winning cover will be announced on November 4.

“Each year the Iowa Tourism Office distributes more than 100,000 copies of the Iowa Travel Guide to potential travelers from around the world,” said Iowa Tourism Office Manager Shawna Lode. “Working in concert with our website, traveliowa.com, the printed guide is a tremendous trip-planning resource for new and repeat visitors.”

When you cast your vote for the cover image, you can also preorder a copy of the next Iowa Travel Guide, which will be available in early 2016. Inside the new guide expect to see great content highlighting Iowa bike trails, unique Iowa souvenirs and historic hotels in addition to thousands of listings for attractions, hotels, bed and breakfast, cabins and campgrounds/RV parks.

Tourism in Iowa generates more than $8.06 billion in expenditures, employs 66,500 people statewide and generates $374 million in state taxes.
